By In Local Environmental Groups 560 downloads

Every garden matters, every landscape counts.  Native plants create the foundation for healthy ecological communities and support native pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. However, the importance of native plants to stable ecosystems is not always well understood among gardeners, land managers, or the public. This is, in part, because for most of the past few centuries it has been an accepted practice for botanists, explorers, and others, to transport plant (and animal) specimens around the globe for ornamental and commercial purposes. Moving species to new continents or distant places was not anticipated as problematic, and only relatively recently have we humans begun to see the sometimes damaging and unintended consequences.

default Air Source Heat Pumps Popular

Also called mini-splits, these systems can provide air conditioning as well as heat. "[A]n air-source heat pump can deliver one-and-a-half to three times more heat energy to a home than the electrical energy it consumes. This is possible because a heat pump moves heat rather than converting it from a fuel like combustion heating systems do."
