Be on the look out June 1st for details on the upcoming virtual Food Link event, Home Cook-in: Building Food Link’s Future. This exciting event promises to be fun and chock-full of information about the future of Food Link.
Food Link Doubles its Effort during COVID-19
During the COVID-19 shutdown, we have distributed DOUBLE the amount of food we usually do, and it hasn't been easy considering the small space we occupy currently. Operations, however, are looking a bit easier in the near-term as we now have access to much needed space and refrigeration to handle the large amount of fresh, nutritious food that we know is backed up and undistributed in the food system. By large, we mean trucks with palettes of food, not a few boxes.
Working with Dylan from Boston Area Gleaners, Sasha from Food For Free, and Tufts University, DeAnne Dupont arranged the use a Tufts' dining facility to hold, refrigerate, sort, and distribute food to the 38% of MA residents who are food insecure.
We are grateful to Tufts for offering their big refrigerators, loading dock, and room for volunteers to work safely. What an amazing community neighbor. Learn more here. Thank you Tufts University!
