Welcome to Sustainable Arlington

Sustainable Arlington acts on the local level to promote climate stabilization and other important environmental goals.  We are a Town of Arlington Environment Committee under Envision Arlington (formerly Vision 2020) and a chapter of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network.  See our yearly project statement in the Town of Arlington Annual Report, under Community Development and Planning,

If you have ideas for ways Arlington can reduce home and Town energy consumption, speed up the switch to renewable energy, or manage Arlington's environmental resources more sustainably, please come to one of our  monthly meetings listed on this website.

Thanks for visiting.

SUSTAINABILITY OF PROPOSED

ARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL DESIGN

An Informal Project Information Session

To Answer Your Questions

Hosted by Sustainable Arlington

Featuring AHS Building Committee Members

Wed., March 13, 7-8:30 pm

The new high school building design is taking shape.

A town-wide vote on June 11th is needed for the project to move forward.

Ryan Katofsky chairs the Building Committee's Sustainbility Subcommittee, and is a longtime Sustainable Arlington member. He says "Sustainability is an inherent part of the new building's design and we have set some aggressive goals, among which are to make this building very energy efficient and fossil fuel free. We will also be improving access to the Minuteman Bikeway, improving bicycle parking, adding more solar energy to the site, and preparing for an electric vehicle future."

Come and learn more about this project!

Meeting location:

School Committee Room, 6th floor, Fusco Building,

Arlington High School , 869 Mass. Ave.

If you are unfamiliar with the layout of high school, head left down the hall once you enter via the main entrance, and follow signs to the School Committee room/district administration. Note that you enter on the 3rd floor, so it is only 3 floors up. If you require an accessible entrance, this can be found to the left of the main entrance.
